Representative Jason Crow (CO-06) voted today to pass the bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 in the House of Representatives. The bill passed with a veto-proof majority (295-125). As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, where the bill passed unanimously, Crow helped to ensure the bill contained provisions that support sustainable energy development and climate security as well as transparency and oversight of the Department of Defense before it was considered by the full House.

This week, House Democratic Caucus National Security Task Force Co-Chair Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), joined by Select Committee on the Climate Crisis Chair Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL), Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, and Hon. John Conger, Director of the Center for Climate and Security held a virtual roundtable where they outlined the multitude of national security threats posed by climate change both at home and abroad.

Today, U.S. Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) joined by Representatives Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and Anthony Brown (MD-04) led a letter with their fellow veterans in the U.S. House of Representatives calling on Senate leadership to pass the HEROES Act provisions that fund state elections so states can expand access to the ballot box, including through vote by mail. The letter highlights how vote by mail has been trusted among military personnel serving abroad for decades and the subsequent failure to assure access to absentee voting for veterans and servicemembers upon returning home.

As dining continues to be limited and restaurants across Colorado struggle to stay afloat, Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) is backing a bipartisan proposal to establish a stabilization fund to help independent restaurants. The Real Economic Support That Acknowledges Unique Restaurant Assistance Needed to Survive (RESTAURANTS) Act of 2020, which Crow is cosponsoring, would establish a $120 billion restaurant stabilization grant program designed to help independent restaurants deal with the long-term structural challenges facing the industry due to COVID-19 and ensure they can re-employ workers and stay in business.

On late Wednesday night, following over 14 hours of debate, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) including key priorities for Colorado advocated by Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06). The final bill passed the Committee by a vote of 56-0. HASC is responsible for passing the NDAA which authorizes the Department of Defense policies and funding each year.

"Over the last month, millions of Americans, many for the first time, heard the story of Elijah McClain. His final words leave us shattered, but at home in Aurora where Elijah died in police custody, the pain is even more acute.

"So to see police dressed in riot gear confront protesters - some who were quite literally playing their violins in tribute to Elijah - is outrageous. And then to discover that there is an ongoing investigation regarding inappropriate photos taken by police leaves me dumbfounded. The lack of empathy is astonishing.

Congressman Jason Crow today helped pass through the House of Representatives the Moving Forward Act, a comprehensive funding bill which will invest in transportation, water infrastructure, housing, and create millions of new jobs. The legislation, which passed with bipartisan support, includes nearly $500 billion in federal funding for surface and rail transit over five years, and invest about $1 trillion more in housing, education, tax credits, and clean energy projects.
