Today, Colorado U.S. Congressman Jason Crow led a letter with 15 of his colleagues to the Secretary of the Department of Defense, Mark Esper, calling on the Pentagon to take all necessary measures to protect military families, servicemembers, and civilian personnel who will be called upon to provide humanitarian relief during the coronavirus pandemic. The letter highlights the critical role the Department of Defense has played in past disaster response missions, such as the Ebola virus epidemic, and the role it will likely play in the coronavirus pandemic.

Late last night, Representative Jason Crow delivered a strong, bipartisan package for Colorado families to take action and address the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Today, Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) launched a new resource page on his congressional website for Coloradans seeking information about the coronavirus. With Colorado's sixth district the most diverse in the state, the resource page provides resources in 13 different languages, including Amharic, Spanish, and Korean, among others.

As the search for a permanent headquarters for USSPACECOM continues, Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) spent the week in Colorado and Washington making the case for Buckley Air Force Base and Colorado as a whole.

On Monday, Crow met with Mark Kennedy, President of the University of Colorado, to discuss how they can work together to base Space Command in Colorado and expand the University's federal funding for defense, space, and aerospace research programs. Both Kennedy and Crow have cited the quality of Colorado's education system as a central component for why Colorado is the best home for space missions.

The Congressional Medal of Honor Society has announced the 27 finalists for this year's Citizen Honors Awards by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Brendan Bialy and Kendrick Castillo, students of STEM School in Highlands Ranch, have been nominated for the Act of Heroism Award which recognizes Americans who accomplish extraordinary feats of heroism by risking their lives for the benefit of others in a dire situation. Brendan Bialy and Kendrick Castillo are two of the students who helped subdue a gunman at the STEM school last May. Mr. Castillo was killed in the shooting.

During today's House Armed Services Committee hearing on the Fiscal Year 2021 National Defense Authorization Budget Request from the Department of Defense, Rep. Jason Crow called on Secretary Esper and General Milley to state whether climate change was a threat to our national security. Both Esper and Milley acknowledged the threat climate change poses to our military installations, the impact it could have on destabilizing regions of the world, and the risks it creates for vulnerable populations. Their remarks follow the 2019 report by the U.S.

Today, Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) launched his first Lead Locally of 2020 with a visit to Aurora. Lead Locally, an initiative started by Crow during his first year in office, brings him to cities and municipalities across the district for tours with local officials. Last year, Crow visited nine communities including Aurora, Thornton, Highlands Ranch, Brighton, Greenwood Village, Littleton, Centennial, Foxfield, and Parker. During today's visit, Crow met with Mayor Coffman, Mayor Pro Term Johnston, City Manager Twombly, and Adams County Commissioner Tedesco.
