Following Push by Crow, Nearly $5 Million in Federal Coronavirus Funding Awarded to CO-6 Community Health Centers

April 9, 2020

Congressman Jason Crow today announced that three Community Health Centers in Colorado's 6th district have been awarded nearly $5 million as a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The funding follows a push by Crow who fought for community health center funding to be included in the CARES Act. The funding will help the centers continue to provide the treatment and testing needed to help patients and community members affected by COVID-19.

"On a normal day, Community Health Centers provide essential primary and preventive care for thousands within our community, many of whom otherwise would not receive health care, but in a global pandemic their work is mission critical," said Crow. "As reports continue to show that the coronavirus pandemic is disproportionality infecting and killing black Americans, the work of CHCs becomes more important than ever with their focus on providing health services to communities of color and vulnerable populations. I'm proud that our effort to increase funding has been heard. I will continue to advocate for Colorado and make sure we have the resources we need to contain the virus and its impact."

"STRIDE Community Health Center and other Community Health Centers are on the front lines of this global pandemic and we're proud to be providing COVID-19 testing while continuing to deliver essential care to the most vulnerable in our community, including through the utilization of telehealth. We can't complete our mission, during this pandemic and long term, without the necessary funding to support these efforts. We're incredibly grateful to Congressman Crow for fighting for us in Washington D.C. and ensuring that STRIDE and other CHCs get the funding they need to test and treat Coloradans in our community during this critical time," said Ben Wiederholt, CEO at STRIDE.

The nearly $5 million in funding for CD-6 Community Health Centers includes Stride Community Center ($1,880,765), Salud Family Health Center ($2,408,780), and community health clinical services provided by the University of Colorado at Anschutz ($584,045).
