WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, joined Representatives James P. McGovern (MA-02), Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee and Co-Chair of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Norma Torres (CA-35), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), and Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to introduce the Human Rights Defenders Protection Act of 2024.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) joined Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen (CO-07) in leading a group of Colorado Representatives to urge the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to continue funding the Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center (RMPRC), which has conducted instrumental public health research in the region for nearly 20 years.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), Army combat veteran and Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, joined Congressmen Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19), along with 27 colleagues, in sending a letter to President Biden supporting the Administration’s efforts, along with Egypt and Qatar, to reach an agreement between Israel and Hamas to bring hostages home and provide a pause in the fighting in Gaza. Israel has agreed to the framework of such a pause but Hamas has so far rejected it.

WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO-06), led a letter with Colorado Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper pushing the Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to publicly release the Detainee Death Review Report on the death of Nicaraguan asylum seeker Melvin Ariel Calero-Mendoza. Mr. Calero-Mendoza was detained and tragically died at the Aurora Contract Detention Facility operated by the GEO Group in October 2022. 

AURORA — Today, Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), led a letter with Colorado Senators Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper to US Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General (DHS OIG) and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of Professional Responsibility (ICE OPR) leadership demanding more information on findings and recommendations from recent unannounced inspections of the Aurora Contract Detention Facility, a facility privately run by the GEO Group.
