Crow Statement on War Powers Resolution Vote

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO), a former paratrooper and Army Ranger who serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement in advance of a House vote on his War Powers Resolution, along with Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), to disapprove of President Trump’s war with Iran:

“Americans are done with endless conflict in the Middle East. Folks are struggling to get by at home and don’t want their taxpayer dollars being sent to fight more wars abroad.

“18 American servicemembers have been killed since this war began. Hundreds more have been injured. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been spent. The President’s war with Iran has been an unmitigated disaster. The costs are rising every day, yet the President is choosing to double down on his failures.

“Congress has already voted once to stop this reckless war. The American people oppose this war and want our leaders to end forever wars.”

Crow has repeatedly condemned Trump’s illegal war of choice in Iran. He previously introduced a War Powers resolution to end this war, and is leading legislation to prohibit federal funding for the war. As someone from a working class family who served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Crow has seen firsthand the toll forever wars have cost servicemembers and hardworking Americans.
