AURORA — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) joined Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver (BGCMD) leadership and educators to present $1.2 million he secured to bolster afterschool programming, help close the achievement gap, and invest in retaining high caliber staff dedicated to youth development. “For years, Boys and Girls of Metro Denver has been a lifeline for families looking for support after school. Their efforts have not only worked to close the achievement gap, but also provide working parents with the peace of mind that their kids will have a safe place to learn and grow after 3PM,” said Congressman Crow. "That’s why I'm glad to have secured funding to support the services of BGCMD, so they can maintain dedicated staff and empower our kids to achieve more.”
“Representative Jason Crow has long demonstrated his investment in this community and in the future of kids like those we serve at Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver. We are incredibly grateful for Congressman Crow securing this vital funding, which will help us expand upon the amazing experiences and opportunities we are able to provide members each day,” said Erin Porteous, CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver.

Currently, BGCMD serves 4,000 young people in Aurora annually, with over 90% of BGCMD families representing underserved or historically marginalized communities with limited access to afterschool programming. The funding Crow requestedand secured will go towards after school programming and services, including one-on-one support with homework, literacy programs, STEM-based learning, cultural arts, sports leagues, leadership programs, outdoor education, nutrition, field trips and events. A portion of funds will also be used to retain employees trained in youth development and expand full-time staffing opportunities.
Last year, Congressman Crow secured all 15 community projects he requested funding for in Fiscal Year 2023 directly benefiting Colorado’s 6th Congressional District. Recently, all 15 community projects Crow requested funding for in Fiscal Year 2024 were advanced by key Appropriations subcommittees, with nearly $11.6 million going towards critical services for underserved Coloradans and support for students.
