Congressman Crow Champions Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Investments in Denver International Airport
Crow: “These major federal investments will improve Denver’s airport, create more jobs, and help Colorado’s economy thrive.”
DENVER — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), member of the Quiet Skies Caucus, applauded continued record investments in Denver International Airport (DEN) from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), including over $26 million recently announced by the Biden Administration. Congressman Crow voted for the BIL in 2021. DEN is the nation's third-busiest airport and the Rocky Mountain region’s largest economic driver.
As DEN prepares to handle 100 million passengers annually, with over 70 million passengers served last year alone, the Crow-backed Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues funding critically-needed improvements at DEN to manage surging passenger traffic. In total, the BIL has delivered more than $302 million to enhance DEN, including over $60 million to upgrade the terminal to accommodate more passengers, and an additional $25.2 million funding a portion of replacement for the new baggage handling system and improving energy efficiency.
"Travelers in Colorado deserve a seamless experience at Denver's airport. That's why I helped secure millions in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to build out DEN’s capacity and meet the demand of the nation’s largest connecting airport and third busiest,” said Congressman Crow. “Colorado is growing rapidly – and our airport must keep pace with our success. These major federal investments will improve Denver’s airport, create more jobs, and help Colorado’s economy thrive.”
Congressman Crow continues working from Congress to secure key investments in Coloradans' critical transportation infrastructure and protect communities impacted by airport issues. This includes urging the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to help improve passenger wait times at DEN, and longstanding efforts to conduct oversight of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and reduce airport noise at Centennial Airport in Colorado’s 6th District.
BIL funding supported by Crow has been announced for hundreds of specific projects across the state to repair roads and boost Colorado’s climate resilience, enhance airports, expand high-speed internet access, and improve public transit.
As of 2023, DEN has contributed over $36.4 billion into Colorado’s economy and supported over 220,000 local jobs. By 2027, DEN is expected to serve over 100 million passengers annually.
