Statement from Crow on Anniversary of Iraq War

March 20, 2019

Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) released the below statement on the 16th anniversary on the Iraq War:

"Sixteen years ago, as a 24-year-old Platoon Leader with the 82nd Airborne Division, I began preparing for what would later be called the Battle of As Samawah. We proudly did the job that our country asked us to do.

As we reflect on the anniversary of the Iraq War, let us honor the brave Americans who served and sacrificed. Let us also remember the past and ongoing suffering of innocent Iraqi civilians.

Sending our young men and women to war is one of gravest responsibilities of our elected leaders. I will always be guided by the service and sacrifice of the men and women with whom I served. They were America's sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters. We should only send our men and women into harm's way when our national security requires it, and after we have exhausted all diplomatic options."
