Reps. Crow & Wenstrup Lead Bipartisan Resolution in Support of an Independent and Democratic Ukraine

Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO) and Congressman Brad Wenstrup, D.P.M., (R-OH) joined in introducing a bipartisan resolution reaffirming the United States' unwavering support for a secure, democratic, and independent Ukraine.

"Putin's war is a tyrannical, unprovoked act of aggression against a sovereign democratic nation," said Congressman Crow."The U.S. must stand with its NATO Allies and the Ukrainian people, condemn Vladimir Putin and other responsible parties, and provide defense and humanitarian support to Ukraine."

"Vladimir Putin's unprovoked and unjustified full-scale attack on Ukrainian democracy and sovereignty is beyond the pale,"said Congressman Wenstrup. "The world must know that Russia's actions exclude them from any legitimate seat in the international community. I'm proud to introduce this resolution with my colleague, Representative Crow, reaffirming the House's unequivocal backing of the Ukrainian people, our commitment to working with our allies and partners of the free world to ensure Ukraine is equipped to defend itself, and unwavering support for a secure, democratic, and independent Ukraine."

"The House of Representatives stands unequivocally with the Ukrainian people and supports Ukraine's sovereignty and right to self-governance; [the House] condemns in the strongest terms Russian President Vladimir Putin's full-scale, unprovoked war on Ukraine and violations of international laws and principles," reads the resolution. "[The House] reaffirms our commitment to work with our allies of the free world and the Biden administration to provide lethal weapons for Ukraine's defense, as well as nonlethal, diplomatic, intelligence, and humanitarian support to Ukraine."

In December 2021, Crow lead a congressional delegation trip with Wenstrup and other members to Ukraine. Crow also met with Ukrainian leaders last week while at the Munich Security Conference, where he joined American leaders in reaffirming US support for Ukraine.
