Rep. Jason Crow Announces “Lead Locally Initiative”

February 22, 2019

Today, Rep. Crow (D-CO) announced his new project, the Lead Locally Initiative. The effort will have Rep. Crow meeting with the mayor or local municipal officials for a tour of cities in the district and a discussion of the issues facing constituents throughout the year. Crow will be visiting cities and town across the district from Foxfield (pop. 700) to Aurora (pop. 366,000).

The announcement of the Lead Locally Initiative came following Crow's tour of Aurora with Mayor Bob LeGare and City Manager Jim Twombly. Following a briefing in the Mayor's office, Crow toured the Beck Recreation Center to learn more about the REPI program, visited the proposed I-70 Picadilly Interchange, rode through planned development in northeast Aurora, and toured the Village at Westerly Creek housing development.

"Lead Locally was borne of the idea that my priorities in Washington need to be rooted in what is happening in the district," said Rep. Crow. "I look forward to working with mayors, city managers, and local residents across the district to learn more about the unique challenges they face and bring those ideas back to Washington to solve problems for the 6th district. This will help us be a better advocate for our communities and fight for federal resources for important local projects. Members of Congress need to listen and then lead. For me, that starts right here at home."

"We appreciate Congressman Crow taking the time to learn about the city of Aurora's needs. We look forward to working with him in the future to enhance the quality of life for all Aurora's residents," said Mayor Bob LeGare.
