Crow Statement on Threat to Denver Area Schools

April 17, 2019

AURORA, CO - Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) released the following statement on the news that area schools were closed due to a credible threat of gun violence on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Columbine shooting.

"This morning, hundreds of thousands of parents across the community are having to tell their kids it is not safe for them to go to school this morning. We cannot be okay with this being the environment we raise our children in. The fact that many of these parents were teenagers themselves during Columbine and now, twenty years later, are being forced to relive that fear as parents disturbs me to my core. Gun violence and the threat of it have become a public health crisis in our country.

"Thank you to the first responders and educators who are working diligently this morning to resolve the situation and keep our communities and schools safe."
