Crow Statement on Supreme Court Siding with Corrupt Special Interests
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO) released the following statement after the Supreme Court eliminated longstanding caps on election spending, opening the doors for more corruption in our politics:
“Our political system is broken, and the Supreme Court is making it worse.
“Giving billionaires and special interests even more influence in our elections won’t make things better. Americans are sick and tired of a corrupt political system that works for elites, but not for them.
“We must get the corrupt influence of money out of politics. To begin rebuilding trust, Congress must overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision, which has resulted in a massive surge in dark money. We must also elect leaders who answer to their constituents, not corporations or corrupt special interests.”
Throughout his time in Congress, Crow has stood up to special interests and has not taken a dime of corporate PAC money. As the co-chair of the End Corruption Caucus, he is leading the fight to root out corruption in our elections, including through his End Dark Money Act to crack down on dark money’s influence on U.S. elections.
