Crow Statement on NATO’s Joint Address to Congress
Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) issued this statement after NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's address to a joint session of Congress.
"As a former Army Ranger, I know firsthand what makes the U.S. military the strongest in the world. But I also know the real consequences of military action and the need for a strong military alliance with NATO to deter threats. Today, our partnership with NATO has helped keep our country safe from a resurgent Russia, respond to emerging cybersecurity threats, and combat the rise of international terrorism.
"The President's past remarks undermining NATO and raising doubts over our country's commitment to Article 5 threaten the strength of the alliance and our shared commitment to democratic principles. We have never been a country that prefers to go it alone. For 70 years, we have been there for our NATO allies and they have been there for us in our hour of need. America is strongest when we are working with our NATO partners. I'm grateful to Secretary General Stoltenberg for his leadership of NATO and efforts to promote a peaceful world. The Secretary General said it best when he said, ‘It is good to have friends.'"
