Crow Statement on Aurora Protests

July 27, 2020
Press Release

Today, Congressman Jason Crow released the statement below following the protests in Aurora over the weekend:

“In Aurora, hundreds of members of our community continue to come together to stand in support of Elijah McClain and so many other Black Americans who have been denied justice.

“We are still learning exactly what happened on Saturday night, but what we do know is horrifying enough: a driver sped through a crowd of protesters causing chaos and harm, in yet another example of the violence that is inflicted on those fighting for justice and equality. That doesn’t excuse the destruction at the Municipal Court Building. Those seeking to participate in destruction or violence do nothing but distract from the important work being done by protesters.

“The night began in peace and solidarity for Elijah McClain and the Black Lives Matter movement. That is the message we must continue to fight for and never forget.”
