Crow, Hagedorn, and Schneider Introduce Resolution to Support National Veterans Small Business Week
WASHINGTON – Representatives Jason Crow (CO-06), Jim Hagedorn (R-MN-01), and Brad Schneider (IL-10) today introduced the bipartisan H. Res. 677, “Supporting the goals and ideals of National Veterans Small Business Week.” This resolution supports the Small Business Administration and its programs that support veterans who start and own small businesses. Programs include funding for veteran-owned small businesses, training for veteran entrepreneurship, and support for veteran contracting. The resolution honors the 2.5 million veteran-owned small businesses that employ nearly 5.8 million individuals.
The sixth annual National Veterans Small Business Week will be celebrated November 4-8, 2019 and will focus on different topics relating to veteran business ownership throughout the week – including transition assistance, entrepreneurial training, stakeholders and resources, access to capital, government contracting, and disaster assistance.
“We have a responsibility to be there for our veterans when they take off the uniform. Making sure veterans have the tools and resources they need to build and run a small businesses ensures we are keeping our promise to them. National Veterans Small Business Week is just one way we can make sure we are not just raising awareness about veteran-owned small businesses, but actually helping invest in them for the future,” said Crow.
“Supporting our military heroes and helping them succeed once they return home is one of the most important things we can do as Americans. The work of the Small Business Administration through Veterans Small Business Week is an important way to give back to those who have given so much. Supporting this program is critical to helping veterans find success and fulfillment and achieve the American Dream,” said Hagedorn.
“We have a solemn duty to support our veterans when they hang up their uniform and transition into civilian life. One of those ways is helping our veterans who chose to start a small business. The 2.5 million successful veteran-owned small businesses are evidence that the leadership, problem solving, and communications skills gained by those who serve our nation translate well to entrepreneurial success. I am proud to introduce this bipartisan resolution recognizing National Veterans Small Business Week and will continue to support resources to help more veterans start and grow businesses in our communities,” said Schneider.
