Congressman Jason Crow to Serve as Ranking Member of Bipartisan Task Force Investigating Attempted Trump Assassination
Crow: “Political violence has no place in our democracy.”
WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) was appointed Ranking Member of the bipartisan task force to investigate the attempted assassination of presidential candidate Donald Trump. The bipartisan task force, established by a resolution last week, is composed of six Democrats and seven Republicans.
Congress is once again turning to Congressman Crow to handle our nation’s most sensitive investigations as a trusted and credible Member on public safety and national security matters. Congressman Crow previously served as a Trump impeachment manager in 2019 and has sat on the House Foreign Affairs, House Armed Services, and House Intelligence Committees throughout his time in Congress.
“Political violence has no place in our democracy. Period. We must be united in the belief as Americans, not as Republicans or Democrats, that political disagreement is settled through rigorous discourse, not violence. I am committed to working with my colleagues to conduct a thorough bipartisan investigation to collect the facts and recommend corrective security measures,” said Congressman Crow. “I will help lead this bipartisan task force with Chairman Kelly to investigate and fully examine the attempted assassination of former President Trump, and I will treat it like what it is: a solemn, urgent, and necessary responsibility. The American people deserve clear answers and assurances that we will not let this happen again.”
“We have the utmost confidence in Ranking Member Rep. Jason Crow and this bipartisan group of steady, qualified and capable Members of Congress to move quickly to find the facts, ensure accountability and help make certain such failures never happen again,” said Speaker Johnson and Leader Jeffries.
Congressman Crow enlisted in the National Guard to pay for college and went active duty in the Army following the 9/11 attacks. Crow led a platoon of paratroopers during the invasion of Iraq with the 82nd Airborne Division and later joined the 75th Ranger Regiment to serve two tours in Afghanistan as part of the Joint Special Operations Task Force. Following his service, Congressman Crow attended law school and became a practicing attorney where he helped veterans get their hard-earned benefits. In Congress, Crow emerged as a trusted national security voice in the Democratic Caucus and served as an Impeachment Manager in former president Trump’s 2021 trial. In the 118th Congress, Crow serves as the Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability and a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
