Congressman Jason Crow Statement on Firing of Police Chief Wilson
AURORA – Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) today released the following statement following the news that Aurora Police Chief Vanessa Wilson was fired.
"I'm grateful to Chief Wilson for her 23 years of service to the Aurora Police Department. During her time as chief, Chief Wilson worked hard to support reforms and restore trust – including entering into a Consent Decree with the Colorado Attorney General. The Aurora community is grateful for her service during a time of unprecedented challenges.
"The Colorado Attorney General's Patterns and Practices report made clear that reform is needed and I believe that Chief Wilson's firing is a setback in that effort. The next chief must be someone who, like Chief Wilson, is committed to addressing rising crime in the community in a fair and equitable way and in full compliance with the Consent Decree."
