Congressman Crow Statement on Voting Against House Republicans’ Extreme, Partisan Defense Bill
Crow: “Our servicemembers deserve better than these partisan games. I voted no.”
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), Army combat veteran and member of the House Intelligence Committee, released this statement after voting against House Republicans’ extreme, partisan Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, a historically bipartisan annual legislation that funds our nation’s defense.
After the Supreme Court’s dangerous decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health, Congressman Crow has continued to lead efforts to protect servicemembers’ fundamental rights. Crow’s efforts include successfully urging the Department of Defense to protect access to reproductive health care, and introducing legislation to expand leave policy across military branches for servicemembers seeking abortion care.
In a statement, Congressman Crow said:
“US servicemembers take an oath to defend our nation and rely on Congress to have their back. But for the second year in a row, House Republicans have failed – I cannot support this year’s NDAA.
“My extreme colleagues would rather restrict reproductive freedoms and roll back diversity protections than address our urgent recruitment and retention needs.
“Our servicemembers deserve better than these partisan games. I voted no.”
