Congressman Crow Statement on the Future of the US Space Command in Colorado
Crow: “Keeping Space Command in Colorado is in the best interest of national security.”
WASHINGTON — Today Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, released this statement following reports that President-elect Trump is expected to relocate US Space Command (USSPACECOM) away from Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.
Congressman Crow has consistently fought to keep US Space Command in Colorado. His record includes sending a letter in 2023 to President Biden alongside an array of Colorado leaders urging the President to reaffirm Colorado’s position as the premier home for U.S. Space Command. Prior to that, Congressman Crow pressed the Biden Administration to review the decision of the first Trump Administration to move US Space Command out of Colorado, and pressed Secretary Austin in an April 2022 hearing to restart a comprehensive basing review process.
In a statement, Congressman Crow said:
“Keeping Space Command in Colorado is in the best interest of national security. Space Command has reached full operational capability and moving it would disrupt its operations and growth, putting our troops and country at risk. Colorado has the workforce and infrastructure to ensure its success. I will work relentlessly with the Colorado delegation to keep Space Command in its rightful home of Colorado.”
