Congressman Crow Statement on Tennessee Lawmakers Expelled for Gun Control Protest

April 7, 2023

Crow: “I stand with Reps. Jones and Pearson.”

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), Army veteran and Co-Chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, released this statement following reports that two lawmakers were expelled from the Tennessee House of Representatives for exercising their right to protest following the tragic Nashville school shooting that took the lives of three nine-year-olds and three school administrators.

In a statement, Congressman Crow said:

“The Tennessee legislators who voted to expel Rep. Justin Jones and Rep. Justin Pearson are cowards. They acted out of fear. Fear of their irrelevance. Fear that their time is up. Fear that the next generation is coming to claim leadership.

“What these cowardly legislators don't understand is that their actions lit a fire that cannot be contained. The future is here. I stand with Reps. Jones and Pearson.”
