Congressman Crow Statement on President Biden’s Decision to Send ATACMS to Ukraine

October 18, 2023

Crow: “ATACMS change the game.”

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), former Army Ranger, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs’ Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, and member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released this statement today after President Biden’s decision to send long-range Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to Ukraine. Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine is now in its 19th month.

This decision follows Congressman Crow’s ongoing efforts to send US ATACMS to Ukraine, including leading a bipartisan letter in June with For Country Caucus members calling on President Biden to transfer ATACMS to Ukraine.

Recently, the Biden Administration enabled the US to share intelligence on Russian war crimes with the International Criminal Court following Crow’s efforts  calling for the intelligence to be shared.

In a statement, Congressman Crow said:

"This is a huge win for Ukraine. A long-range missile system gives Ukraine defense capabilities against Russian targets they previously weren’t able to reach.

“Ukraine has used HIMARS to a devastating effect, but Russia has adapted by moving further away and attacking Ukrainians from a distance where they can’t be touched. That’s why I have been calling for ATACMS to be sent to Ukraine. ATACMS change the game.

“I thank President Biden for his leadership and look forward to continuing to advocate for and support Ukraine in their fight.”
