March 27, 2023

Crow: “As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I will continue to protect the privacy and security of Americans and combat the growing technological threats.”

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) released this statement following President Biden signing an Executive Order today to prohibit operational use of commercial spyware that poses a risk to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.

In a statement, Congressman Crow said:

“As foreign adversaries develop technologies to hack our systems and commercial spyware becomes increasingly widespread, the US needs to take additional steps to safeguard American interests at home and abroad.

“President Biden’s Executive Order is an important step to safeguard national security and protect sensitive information from nefarious foreign actors. This Executive Order not only counters the spread of these technologies, which have been used against Americans and journalists abroad, it also holds companies accountable for violating these values.

“As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I will continue to protect the privacy and security of Americans and combat the growing technological threats.”
