Congressman Crow Statement on Arrest of Intelligence Leak Suspect

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, released this statement following the arrest of Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman suspected of leaking classified intelligence documents. 

In a statement, Congressman Crow said:

“One of our greatest national security threats comes from within — and this intel leak makes that clear once again. 

“The leak methods weren’t novel — it was a servicemember folding pieces of paper, sneaking them out, and then taking and posting pictures. It’s concerning that our current protocols failed to stop it.  

“It’s time to thoroughly review how we safeguard classified information, including the security clearance process. 

“I will work with the House Intelligence Committee to conduct oversight and determine what additional measures are needed to protect sensitive information going forward.
