Congressman Crow Statement Marking 23 Years Since the September 11 Terrorist Attacks
WASHINGTON — Today, Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) released this statement marking twenty-three years since the devastating 9/11 terrorist attacks, the deadliest terrorist attacks on US soil and one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.
Following the 9/11 attacks, Congressman Crow commissioned as an active duty Army officer. He led a platoon of paratroopers in the invasion of Iraq, followed by two tours in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger.
In a statement, Congressman Crow said:
“September 11 marks one of our nation’s darkest days, and in that moment, the course of American history changed forever.
“The attacks claimed the lives of thousands of Americans and thrust our nation into decades of war. We’ll never forget the first responders who ran towards the flames that day. Their bravery and sacrifice represented the best of our nation and continue to inspire us today.
“In the aftermath of that horrific day, we also saw tremendous resolve. We saw that America is at its best when we come together and answer the call to do something bigger than ourselves. That call led me down a path of service to our country that remains my north star.
“To my fellow servicemembers who answered the call to serve and left their home and families to defend our nation: thank you. We owe you a debt that can never be repaid.”
