Crow: “I served with Afghan partners, and will never forget their bravery…”

WASHINGTON — Congressman Jason Crow (D-CO-06), Afghanistan veteran and Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Accountability, announced the House Foreign Affairs Committee passage of his bipartisan resolution encouraging the US Government to develop a comprehensive strategy to address the Taliban’s human rights abuses in Afghanistan.

Introduced alongside Representatives Mike Waltz (R-FL-06), Joe Wilson (R-SC-02), and Susan Wild (D-PA-07), Congressman Crow’s resolution would support the people of Afghanistan including Afghan partners who assisted the US mission and condemn the Taliban’s ongoing persecution of Afghan women, girls, and members of ethnic and religious minority groups.

“I served with Afghan partners and will never forget their bravery or the promises we made to protect them,”  said Congressman Crow. “I condemn the Taliban’s continued attacks against our partners as well as their ongoing persecution of Afghan women and religious groups. I thank my colleagues for their broad support of this resolution to hold the Taliban accountable and stand by our partners.”

Serving two tours in Afghanistan as an Army Ranger, Congressman Crow continues working to honor our promises to US allies. Crow’s efforts include introducing the Afghan Allies Protection Act to expand and extend the Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) program and the Afghan Adjustment Act to provide a legal adjustment process for Afghan allies already in the US. This year, Crow’s advocacy alongside House and Senate colleagues resulted in the authorization of 12,000 additional Afghan SIVs in the State Department's foreign operations funding bill.
