Congressman Crow Joins Colleagues to Honor 13 Fallen Servicemembers of Abbey Gate Attack with the Congressional Gold Medal
WASHINGTON — Today Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), a former Army Ranger who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, joined a bipartisan group of colleagues to honor the 13 servicemembers who lost their lives in the Abbey Gate attack during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. During the ceremony, the families of these fallen heroes were presented with the Congressional Gold Medal – the highest honor that Congress can bestow – to posthumously recognize their loved ones’ service and sacrifice. In a statement, Congressman Crow said: “Today, we honor the sacrifice of the 13 servicemembers who gave their lives at the Abbey Gate attack in Afghanistan. “Their service helped evacuate Americans, American allies, and vulnerable Afghan partners who fought alongside our troops across the 20 year war. “Honoring our fallen servicemembers is personal to me. Though the Congressional Gold Medal can never repay their sacrifice — may it forever mark their place in history as American heroes. “I’ll continue working to honor America’s promises and bring our remaining Afghan partners to safety.” ### |
