"I'm honored to announce my appointment to the House Armed Services Committee. Our most solemn responsibility is the decision to send our young men and women into harm's way. As a former Army Ranger, I have seen firsthand the horrors of war and understand force should always be a last resort. It is an experience that will guide my work on the committee and in Congress.

Rep. Jason Crow today met with constituents to discuss the impact of the government shutdown. As of today, the shutdown is the longest closure in history with over 800,000 federal employees, including 20,000 in Colorado, either furloughed

or working without pay.

On the 8th anniversary of the shooting in Arizona that wounded Gabby Giffords, H.R. 8 is introduced in the House

Today, Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06) signed on to co-sponsor H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act. The bill, introduced on the eighth anniversary of the shooting that wounded Gabby Giffords and 12 others and killed six in Arizona, would strengthen our nation's background checks system and help keep firearms out of the wrong hands.

Rep. Jason Crow today joined the new House Democratic majority in introducing H.R. 1, the For the People Act, a sweeping package of reforms that will change balance of power in Washington and put the American people back in charge of our democracy. The three-pronged reform package will address voting rights, campaign finance reforms and ethics reform.

H.R. 1 offers some of the most transformational and comprehensive democracy reforms in more than four decades and follows through on a major Democratic midterm election promise to clean up the chaos and corruption Washington.

"This shutdown is unnecessary and reckless and Congress has a responsibility to resolve it ASAP. It's why I supported a bipartisan bill that would allow all 20,000 Coloradans furloughed or working without pay to return to work.

"As a former Army Ranger, I take our national security seriously and support funding border security - all of which this bill does. What I don't support is a cheap election gambit by President Trump to fund an ineffective and immoral wall.
