Health care advocates and providers shared their stories today with Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06), who has co-sponsored 19 health care bills since taking office six months ago. Crow and House Democrats have been focused on advancing their health care agenda, including voting to pass the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions & Making Health Care More Affordable Act to lower costs of health care services and prescription drugs and improve the quality of care.

On early Thursday morning following over 20 hours of debate, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) including key priorities for Colorado advocated by Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), who serves on the Intelligence, Emerging Threats, and Capabilities subcommittee and Readiness subcommittee. The final bill passed Committee by a vote of 33-24. The HASC is responsible for passing the NDAA which authorizes the Department of Defense policies and funding each year.

Today, the House Armed Services Committee (HASC) passed the NDAA with a provision put forth by Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) to require large military installations to include assessments of climate change and mitigation efforts in their master plans. The provision would also require the recognition of authoritative sources of data for extreme weather projection, a move that comes as the administration continues to delegitimize scientific sources.

This morning, Representative Jason Crow's (CO-06) amendment in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to prohibit the Department of Defense from supporting child separation from their parents passed the House Armed Services Committee.

Crow's amendment would prohibit defense funding to be used to house children forcibly separated from their parents.

"My amendment ensures that our nation's military facilities focus on our common defense -- not the cruel whims of this President," said Crow.

This afternoon, Crow's amendment to support an increase in federal funding for Project SERV passed the House overwhelming, 345-73, as part of the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2020. Crow's amendment would support a $5 million increase for Project SERV, which provides mental health resources to students in the wake of tragedies. He also called on Congress to scale programs that provide similar assistance to our nation's students and teachers.
