Rep. Jason Crow Launches PSA Campaign in Eight Languages on COVID-19 Safety

May 19, 2020

Crow is continuing his work with multilingual resources to match the needs of his district, the most diverse in the state.

Today, Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06) launched a new digital public service announcement campaign about the simple and easy steps Coloradans can take to keep themselves and our community safe from COVID-19. Colorado's sixth district is the most diverse in the state with one out of five of residents born outside the United States.

Crow is promoting videos to constituents in eight different languages, including English, Spanish, Amharic, Korean, Mandarin, French, Arabic, and Russian. He organized the PSA campaign after his office heard directly from community leaders looking for more multilingual resources on best practices for COVID-19 safety.

"Our community is stronger and more vibrant because of our diversity. During this critical time, it's important that we stick together and leave no one behind" said Crow. "After hearing from community leaders on the need for public health information in more languages, we began working to meet that need. This PSA campaign will help give Coloradans access to the resources and information they need to keep their families and our community safe."

"During this crisis, our most diverse communities are often the most profoundly impacted and it's important that every one of our neighbors has access to vital information and resources. Our work with the Undocumented Workers Fund is an example of creating new ways to help diverse communities during these difficult times" said Amanda Blaurock, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Village Exchange Center. "I'm thankful that Congressman Crow is also pioneering new ways to meet the needs of our community including promoting credible information through these new multilingual PSAs."

In the video, Congressman Crow says:

Hi, this is Congressman Jason Crow. I just wanted to take a moment to remind everybody to make sure that you're practicing safe social distancing, washing your hands, and staying at home if you can.

Public health during a pandemic is a community-wide issue. Let's all take the measures we need to be taking to keep our vulnerable, our seniors, and everybody safe and healthy.

Congressman Crow has made multilingual outreach a priority in his COVID-19 response through legislation and community resources. The CARES Act, which Congress passed in March, included $25 million for the Small Business Administration to provide multilingual resources and services to small business owners, including on the Paycheck Protection Program. Rep. Crow voted for the HEROES Act on Friday, which would allocate another $25 million for multilingual SBA resources. In the first month of the outbreak, Crow began publishing information about COVID-19 on his website in 13 different languages. You can visit the information page here: /coronavirus-information.
