Crow Fights Back Against Trump-Musk USAID Elimination
At press conference and new letter to Secretary of State, Congressman Crow highlights how reckless actions make America weaker
WASHINGTON — Congressman Crow (D-CO-06) is taking decisive action against Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s illegal dismantling of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Congressman Crow joined thousands of Americans gathered at the U.S. Capitol to speak in opposition to cutting an important agency focused on feeding hungry children, preventing war, and countering terrorism threats. In his remarks, Crow highlighted the important role that USAID plays in protecting America’s national security and how dismantling the agency helps our adversaries like Russia and China.
“The assaults of Donald Trump and his billionaire buddies like Elon Musk is not an accident. They want to gut USAID in order to line their own pockets with a massive tax break for the wealthy,” Congressman Crowsaid. “We are prepared to fight. We will litigate. We will organize. We will communicate. And we will use all the levers available to us during the appropriations and budget process to stop Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s reckless actions that are making America less safe.”

Crow also wrote a letter, along with more than 100 Democratic colleagues, to Secretary of State Marco Rubio highlighting the negative impacts of eliminating USAID. A full copy of the letter can be read here.
“Ending USAID will not only make Americans less safe, but it also compromises our ability to compete with rivals like Russia, China, and Iran,” the Members write. “In the face of great power competition, the U.S. cannot afford to retreat from USAID programs that have long advanced American foreign policy objectives. America must remain engaged and lead by example.”
These efforts build on Congressman Crow’s longstanding support for the work of USAID to provide humanitarian assistance and prevent war. He has vocally opposed any effort to dismantle the agency, and has made it clear that President Trump and Elon Musk do not have the legal authority to eliminate independent agencies without congressional authorization.
